Here you’ll find the spare parts available for the TCL 50 NxtPaper, marketed in Europe as the TCL 50 NXTPAPER 5G. It’s a 6.8-inch mobile phone with a matte, anti-glare screen and a side button that switches the display to reading mode. The range includes an OEM-quality screen assembly and an original Purple back cover, suitable both for people repairing their own phone and for workshops looking up the exact part without confusing it with the Pro model.
T702D, T803D or T702M: identify which TCL 50 NxtPaper you actually have
The model code for this category is T702D. You can check it in Settings > Regulatory and safety, by dialling *#07# on the keypad or by checking the box label. It’s worth confirming this before you buy, as some models in this family look almost identical, while others have a similar code but are actually different devices.
- T702D: TCL 50 NxtPaper (50 NXTPAPER 5G), with an 8 MP front camera and 256 GB of storage. This is the model covered by this page.
- T803D and T803E: TCL 50 Pro NxtPaper. It has the same dimensions (167,6 × 75,5 × 8 mm) and the same rear design, but features a 32 MP front camera and 512 GB of storage.
- T702M and T702W: TCL 50 XL NxtPaper 5G and TCL 50 XL 5G, marketed in the United States. They share part of the model code, but are different devices, with a 50 MP main camera and a different processor.
There’s no external difference between the 50 and the 50 Pro that can identify them with certainty: they share the same body, NXTPAPER key and circular camera layout. That’s why the model code is the reliable reference, especially in a workshop where the phone arrives without its box.
Replacement parts for the TCL 50 NxtPaper that preserve its matte display
OEM quality for the 6.8-inch, 120 Hz display
Out of the box, the TCL 50 NxtPaper has a 6.8-inch IPS LCD panel with FHD+ resolution of 1080 × 2460 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate and a matte NXTPAPER finish that reduces glare and fingerprints. This surface, rather than the sharpness, is what sets the phone apart, and it’s the first thing users notice when the screen is replaced.
The OEM screen assembly compatible with TCL 50 NxtPaper is the available replacement for the display and touch panel assembly. As the fingerprint reader is on the power button, not under the glass, replacing the screen won’t affect fingerprint unlocking. Before buying, check the product details to see what the module includes and what its surface finish is, as the matte effect is a defining feature of this model.
If you’re a technician, note that TCL lists the screen assembly for the 50 NxtPaper and the 50 Pro under different part references, and the one for the former mentions the 8 MP front camera. Always order the part for the T702D, even if the two modules look identical.
Original Purple version shared with the 50 Pro
The original Purple back cover for TCL 50 NxtPaper and 50 Pro matches the factory Rosy Purple finish. As an original part, it retains the colour, texture and fit of the factory cover. This matters for this model, whose back has a glossy, circular finish inspired by the Moon.
The back cover is made of plastic, not glass, so replacing it doesn’t require a laser or glass separation. However, TCL describes the phone as unibody, and its manual states that the cover isn’t designed to be opened by the user. Opening tools and some experience are therefore needed to avoid marking the edges.
It makes sense that this part fits both models: the 50 and the 50 Pro share the same dimensions, body and camera module. If your phone is a T803D or T803E, this back cover is compatible too.
Side-mounted fingerprint reader and flexible frame: features of the TCL 50 NxtPaper
The side-mounted fingerprint reader is built into the power button, and facial recognition is 2D and uses the front camera. Neither feature depends on the screen or back cover, so these parts can be replaced without affecting biometrics. TCL documentation doesn’t indicate any software link between the screen or back cover and the mainboard.
Published tests of the Pro model, which is a twin of this one, show that the body flexes fairly easily and the LCD develops marks when pressed. If the phone arrives with a bent frame after a drop, check the frame before fitting the new screen: a twisted structure can put pressure on the newly installed panel.
The NXTPAPER key, the side switch that activates reading modes, is part of the frame and isn’t included with either of these spare parts. Check that it works before starting the repair so you can identify any faults that may have been present beforehand.
Frequently asked questions about repairing a TCL 50 NXTPAPER 5G
Can I fit a TCL 50 Pro NxtPaper screen to my T702D?
Some suppliers advertise the same panel for both models, but TCL lists them under different part references. To avoid fitting issues, we recommend using the screen designed for the TCL 50 NxtPaper.
Are the T702D and TCL 50 XL NxtPaper the same device?
No. The 50 XL NxtPaper 5G (T702M) is marketed in the United States and has a different processor and main camera. Don’t assume the parts for one will fit the other just because the codes look similar.
Will replacing the screen affect fingerprint unlocking?
No, because the sensor is in the power button, not under the panel. Fingerprint recognition isn’t affected by a screen replacement.
Can the back cover be removed without tools?
No. Although it’s made of plastic, it’s attached to the body, and TCL doesn’t describe it as a part the user should remove. You’ll need opening tools and patience to avoid damaging the edges.
