GR83Y, GEC77 and GWVK6: the three Google Pixel 9 Pro model codes
The Pixel 9 Pro is made under three model codes, GR83Y, GEC77 and GWVK6, and Google’s original spare parts are listed as compatible with all three. To check yours, go to Settings > About phone > Regulatory labels. This is the quickest way to avoid confusion if you no longer have the phone’s box.
There is a risk of confusion because the Pixel 9 has the same screen size, while the Pro XL has the same design. These are the differences that affect spare parts:

1280 × 2856 Super Actua panel with ultrasonic reader in the Pixel 9 Pro
The Pixel 9 Pro features a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED Super Actua panel with 1280 × 2856 pixels and peak brightness of up to 3000 nits. Its fingerprint reader is ultrasonic and integrated into the screen assembly, so replacing the screen also means replacing the sensor. For this reason, the Pixel 9 screen won’t fit: even though it has the same dimensions, its resolution is different and it is not the same assembly.
The complete screen for Google Pixel 9 Pro is currently available in Original quality, the highest grade on the spare parts market for this model. According to Google’s repair manual, the Pixel 9 Pro fingerprint reader does not require calibration after replacing the screen. However, if it does not read your fingerprint correctly after the repair, Google provides an official software repair tool for the phone.
4700 mAh and GVYZ7 battery part number for the Pixel 9 Pro
The Pixel 9 Pro battery has a typical capacity of 4700 mAh (4558 mAh minimum) and the part number GVYZ7. Check this code on your battery’s label if it has been replaced before and you want to know which model is fitted. Don’t confuse it with the Pro XL battery, which has a capacity of 5060 mAh and a different shape.
To replace it, simply remove the rear cover. It is held in place by pull tabs and very strong adhesive, and documented teardowns show that the tabs do not always release it on their own. Have new adhesive ready to secure the replacement battery.
The 4700 mAh GVYZ7 battery compatible with Pixel 9 Pro is currently available in Premium quality, a compatible alternative that costs less than the branded spare part. With Android 16, the Pixel 9 Pro displays battery health under Settings > Battery > Battery health, allowing you to check the deterioration before replacing it.
The rear glass of the Google Pixel 9 Pro is adhesive-mounted and can be removed without a laser
The Pixel 9 Pro’s back is made of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and is secured all around the frame, so it can be removed without using a laser. It is also connected to the phone by a flex cable on the right-hand side. For this reason, lift it carefully and don’t pull on it as if it were a loose cover.
The original complete rear cover in porcelain or rose quartz is only available in these two colours. Bear this in mind before ordering if your Pixel 9 Pro has a different finish. The Pixel 9 rear cover will not fit either, as its camera bar is designed for two lenses, while the Pro’s is designed for three.
Lens and internal flex cables compatible with the Pixel 9 Pro triple camera
If only the glass protecting the lenses is damaged, the OEM rear camera lens for Pixel 9 Pro means you won’t need to replace the entire rear cover. It is cut to fit the Pro’s three lenses (main, ultra-wide and 5x telephoto), so it is not suitable for the Pixel 9.

Does the fingerprint reader need calibrating when replacing the Pixel 9 Pro screen?
According to Google’s official manual, the Pixel 9 Pro does not require fingerprint sensor calibration after the screen is replaced. If the fingerprint reader fails once installed, check the flex cable connections first. You can then use Google’s repair tool from a computer.
Can I fit a Pixel 9 screen to my Pixel 9 Pro?
No. Both screens measure 6.3 inches, but the Pixel 9 screen has a resolution of 1080 × 2424, while the Pro’s is 1280 × 2856. Always choose the spare part for the exact model shown on the regulatory labels.
My Pixel 9 Pro shows vertical lines but hasn’t suffered any impact damage. Should I buy a screen?
Google has an extended programme covering vertical lines and panel flickering on the Pixel 9 Pro for three years from the date of purchase. Screens with cracked glass or liquid damage are excluded. If your issue is not covered by the programme, you can replace the complete screen.
