The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max introduced a titanium frame, a USB-C port and an internal architecture that allows the rear glass to be replaced without removing the screen. Before choosing, check the model code and see which components are paired with the logic board, as this determines which functions you’ll retain after replacement.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max sold in Spain is the A3106 (iPhone16,2)

Apple produces four regional variants of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, all with the internal identifier iPhone16,2: A2849 (United States and Puerto Rico), A3105 (Canada, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Guam and the US Virgin Islands), A3108 (mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao) and A3106, the model for the rest of the world, including Spain. To check yours, go to Settings > General > About and tap the part number: the code beginning with A will appear in its place.

The most common source of confusion is the iPhone 15 Plus. It also has a 6.7-inch screen, but it is a different device and uses the codes A2847, A3093, A3094 and A3096. The iPhone 15 Pro (A2848, A3101, A3102 and A3104) has a 6.1-inch screen, so it shares only a few flex cables with the Pro Max. There are two in this list: the screen-to-board connector and the flash flex cable.

ProMotion at 120 Hz and Always-On depend on the iPhone 15 Pro Max OLED panel

As standard, the model features a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel with a resolution of 2796 x 1290 pixels, ProMotion up to 120 Hz, Always-On display, True Tone and Dynamic Island, which houses the TrueDepth system. Both the adaptive refresh rate and Always-On display depend on the panel itself. That’s why they’re the first things to check when comparing replacement parts.

Currently, the complete screen compatible with iPhone 15 Pro Max is available in Premium quality, a compatible mid-range alternative. Please note that, in iOS 18, Repair Assistant only configures True Tone and automatic brightness on Apple screens. With a compatible screen, the parts history may show unknown part, and whether True Tone works depends on the iOS version and on the original screen components being transferred correctly.

If the OLED is still working and only the glass is broken, the front glass with OCA adhesive (OEM quality) allows repair shops with lamination equipment to preserve the customer’s panel. If the fault is with the board socket rather than the screen, the solution is the LCD-to-board FPC connector, also compatible with iPhone 15 Pro.

4422 mAh, three adhesive strips and an unknown-part warning on the iPhone 15 Pro Max

The iPhone 15 Pro Max battery has a capacity of 4422 mAh (17.1 Wh) and is removed from the front after taking off the screen. It is held in place by three pull-tab adhesive strips, two at the bottom and one at the top. They break easily, especially the top one, so it’s best to have new adhesive ready.

The 4422 mAh battery for iPhone 15 Pro Max is currently available in OEM quality. If Apple can’t verify a battery, the parts history marks it as unknown or unverified. In iOS 17.6 and earlier, the battery health information could also disappear. Since iOS 18.1, this information is shown again for third-party batteries, and the warning does not prevent charging or using the phone.

If the fault is with the socket on the board where the battery connects, the replacement part is the original battery FPC connector, which replaces that socket on the logic board.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max rear glass can be replaced without removing the screen

Unlike the 14 Pro Max, the 15 Pro Max has its components fixed to an intermediate frame, so the rear glass can be removed from the back without opening the screen. No laser is needed: it is attached with adhesive and connected to the board by a flex cable that must be unplugged. The replacement options differ in which parts are already fitted:

• Rear cover with camera frame and magnetic ring: includes the camera module frame and magnetic ring, so you’ll need to transfer fewer parts from the broken cover. Available in Blue, White, Black and Silver, currently in OEM quality.
• Glass rear cover for iPhone 15 Pro Max: without the frame or ring included in the other option, designed for those who can reuse them from their existing cover. Available in Blue, White, Natural and Black.

If only the camera lens glass is cracked, the Premium-quality rear camera lenses are all you need; available in Blue, White, Black and Silver. If the flash flex cable is damaged when removing the cover, the flash connector flex cable for 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max works with both models.

Face ID, cameras and USB-C: what is recorded on the iPhone 15 Pro Max

The original front-facing infrared (IR) camera is part of the Face ID TrueDepth system, which is paired with the board. On the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Repair Assistant cannot pair this assembly again. Therefore, replacing it with another module disables Face ID unless Apple performs the pairing.

The front-facing selfie camera for iPhone 15 Pro Max, also in Original quality, is used for taking photos and recording video. iOS records the front camera in the parts history, so a unit not verified by Apple may appear as unknown even if it works correctly.

Will iPhone 15 Pro parts fit the 15 Pro Max?

Generally, no. The 15 Pro has a 6.1-inch screen and its own battery and rear cover, so these parts are not interchangeable. Of the parts listed, only the screen-to-board FPC connector and the flash flex cable fit both models.

Can I fit a used original part from another iPhone 15 Pro Max?

Yes. From iOS 18 onwards, Repair Assistant configures genuine Apple parts, including used ones, via Settings > General > About > Parts and Service History. They will appear as Used in the history. The Face ID assembly is the exception and still depends on Apple.

Does an unknown-part warning lock the iPhone 15 Pro Max?

No. It is an informational warning in the parts history. With a compatible battery, the phone charges and works normally, and since iOS 18.1 it also displays the battery health information.
