You should also avoid treating it as the Chinese Redmi K80 Ultra: it shares the same technical platform, but the camera unit and rear cover differ. The factory-fitted panel is a flat 6.83-inch AMOLED with a resolution of 2772 x 1280 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz and peak brightness of 3200 nits, protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. The phone is unlocked using an optical fingerprint reader that reads through the panel itself, so the replacement you fit directly affects whether the sensor works correctly.

This is the panel designed for this model, with its refresh rate, brightness and compatibility with the optical fingerprint sensor. It is at the higher end of the replacement screen market for this model. If the aluminium frame has been bent by the impact, check it before ordering: a bent chassis prevents the panel from sitting correctly and may cause the fingerprint reader to fail even if the screen is the right one.

Bear in mind that after replacing the screen on the 15T Pro, the optical reader needs to be calibrated from Xiaomi’s CIT test menu using a specific calibration weight. In this category, you’ll find the 50 MP rear main camera for Xiaomi 15T Pro, which is the one used by default at 1x in the camera app. If the fault only occurs when switching to 5x zoom, the damaged module is the telephoto camera and replacing the main camera will not fix it.

Does the fingerprint reader need calibrating after replacing the screen?

Yes. The optical reader on the 15T Pro is calibrated from the CIT menu using a calibration weight; it’s best to delete any registered fingerprints first. If calibration does not complete successfully, the most common cause is that the panel has not been fitted correctly.

Will the phone retain its IP68 resistance after being opened?

The Xiaomi 15T Pro has an IP68 rating from the factory. Once it has been dismantled, water resistance depends on the seal and how it is reassembled, so it cannot be guaranteed to remain intact after repair.
