Repair parts Google Pixel 7 Pro

This category brings together the spare parts for the Google Pixel 7 Pro, the 6.7-inch model Google launched in October 2022 with the Tensor G2 chip. It covers everything from the complete screen and the battery to flex cables, the front camera and board components aimed at workshops with microsoldering capability. Before placing your order, check that your phone is a 7 Pro and not a Pixel 7 or a Pixel 6 Pro, as they look alike on the outside but their parts are not interchangeable.

GP4BC, GE2AE and GFE4J: the three codes of the Google Pixel 7 Pro

The Pixel 7 Pro was produced in three variants. The spec sheets confirm that they share the processor, screen, battery and cameras, and that they differ only in network bands and 5G connectivity:

• GP4BC: international version, the one sold in Europe, with sub-6 GHz 5G and ultra-wideband (UWB).
• GE2AE: United States version, which includes mmWave 5G.
• GFE4J: Japanese version, registered as an alternative code for the GE2AE.

To check yours, go to Settings > About phone > Model & hardware. If it shows GVU6C or GQML3, you have a Pixel 7, which is more compact and uses different parts. With the Pixel 6 Pro it is easier to get it wrong, because it also has a 6.7-inch screen and QHD+ resolution. Even so, they are not identical inside: the fingerprint reader flex of the 7 Pro, for example, has a different shape.

The Google Pixel 7 Pro has a 120 Hz QHD+ LTPO OLED with the fingerprint sensor under the glass

As standard it comes with a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED panel with 1440 x 3120 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and Gorilla Glass Victus. The optical fingerprint reader sits at the bottom, which is why the screen is the part with the most implications when carrying out a repair. The complete screen for Google Pixel 7 Pro is available in OLED quality, compatible with Google Pixel 7 Pro, and keeps the same panel technology as the original.

Google service screens come with the fingerprint reader already installed. Compatible replacements do not always include it: in that case you have to transfer the sensor from the original panel to the new one or fit the original integrated fingerprint sensor flex, which we sell separately. Either way, after the swap you need to recalibrate the fingerprint using Google's online repair tool, with the phone connected to a computer.

Technical forums report cases of replacement screens whose rear contacts, in the sensor area, do not match those of the original panel and the phone stops recognising the reader. Check the fingerprint before securing the screen, as the panel is held in place with adhesive and plastic clips.

The GMF5Z of the Pixel 7 Pro: 4926 mAh minimum, strong adhesive and front access

The original battery is the GMF5Z, with 4926 mAh minimum capacity and 5000 mAh typical (18.96 Wh at 3.85 V). The 5000 mAh GMF5Z battery for Pixel 7 Pro is now available in Premium quality, compatible with Google Pixel 7 Pro. Check that the cell you remove has that same code printed on it.

There are two things worth bearing in mind when placing your order. The Pixel 7 Pro opens from the front, so to reach the battery you have to lift the screen, which is held with adhesive and clips. If the panel is already cracked, it will probably break completely when you prise it off. Also, published teardowns agree that the cell is glued with a very strong adhesive and that its pull tabs tend to tear. In practice, it is worth having new screen adhesive to hand and, if the glass is already damaged, considering ordering the screen and battery in the same shipment.

White, Grey or Black: the rear glass of the Google Pixel 7 Pro is bonded to the chassis

The back of the Pixel 7 Pro is a glass panel fixed to the frame. It is removed by softening the adhesive and there is no need to open the screen. The Premium back cover for Pixel 7 Pro is available in White, Grey and Black. Google sold the phone in the Obsidian, Snow and Hazel finishes, so it is worth comparing the tone of your unit with the colour you are going to order, especially if yours is Hazel.

If only the glass protecting the three cameras of the rear bar has broken (50 MP main, 12 MP ultra-wide and 48 MP telephoto), there is no need to replace the cover. For that case you have the OEM rear camera lens. After the swap, check the focus of all three cameras.

On the Google Pixel 7 Pro the USB-C is soldered to the motherboard

The charging connector of the Pixel 7 Pro is not mounted on a separate flex, but is soldered directly to the motherboard. That is why the original charging port for Pixel 7 Pro is a part aimed at workshops with a hot air station and microsoldering experience. The advantage over replacing the board is that the board and the data are preserved. Something similar happens with the LCD to board FPC connector, the socket where the screen flex fits, which is also soldered.

The rest of the components in the list are flex cables and internal modules, all in Original quality:

Fingerprint, variants and IP68: frequently asked questions about the Pixel 7 Pro

Will the fingerprint of the Pixel 7 Pro still work after replacing the screen?

Yes, as long as the new panel includes the sensor fitted, whether from the factory or reused from the previous one, and you recalibrate it with Google's tool. If after calibrating the add fingerprint option closes or fails, check that the panel contacts match those of the original.

Can I fit a part from a GP4BC if my phone is a GE2AE?

All three variants are sold as the same device and differ only in network bands. The spare parts in this category fit the Pixel 7 Pro in general and make no distinction between variants.

Does the Pixel 7 Pro keep its IP68 rating after being opened?

It has an IP68 rating from the factory, but this is lost as soon as the phone is opened, even if new adhesive is applied. Bear this in mind if your use depends on that protection.

Do I need to change the screen to replace the battery?

You do not have to replace it, but you do have to remove it, since the Pixel 7 Pro opens from the front. If the glass is already cracked, the risk of breaking it when prising it off is high.

Can the charging port be replaced without soldering?

No. On the Pixel 7 Pro the USB-C is soldered to the motherboard, so it requires microsoldering. If you do not have that equipment, entrust this repair to a specialist workshop.
