Motorola Moto G86 screen: the complete OLED panel, ready to fit

The Moto G86 launched in 2025 with one of the brightest screens in its class, which makes a breakage all the more noticeable. This replacement is the complete screen for the Motorola Moto G86: a 6.67-inch pOLED panel, touch glass and flex cable laminated together as one piece. It comes with a free screen protector and a tool kit, so you can get started as soon as you open the box.

OEM quality: what it means for this Motorola G86 screen

OEM means the part comes from the same manufacturing line that supplies the brand, but without the logo. So the panel is the same and performs just as well. In practice, your phone gets back the features it had when it left the factory:

  • 2712 × 1220 resolution (1.5K) with 446 ppi.
  • 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 10-bit colour and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut.
  • Brightness matching the original: up to 4,500 nits peak brightness in HDR and around 1,500 nits in high-brightness mode in direct sunlight.
  • Deep blacks, as you would expect from OLED, and highly accurate colour from the first time you switch it on.

One interesting detail: the G86 moves on from the G85’s curved screen to a completely flat panel with very slim bezels. That is good news for repairs, as a flat panel is easier to fit and less likely to lift at the edges.

Motorola Moto G86 screen compatibility

This screen is designed for the Moto G86 5G (models XT2527). You can check your model under Settings > About phone. Please note that the Moto G85 has the same screen size, but its panel is curved and this screen will not fit. The references we have indicate that the G86 Power uses the same panel. If you are unsure, contact us before buying and the iLevante team will confirm compatibility for you.

When to replace the Motorola Moto G86 screen

With an OLED, a drop rarely damages only the glass. These are the faults we see most often on this model:

  • Black or purple spots spreading out from the point of impact.
  • A permanent vertical green or coloured line. This is a physical panel fault and no software update will fix it.
  • Ghost touches or dead areas on the touchscreen.
  • The fingerprint reader stops working because the glass is chipped directly above it.

If you notice any of these symptoms, you will need to replace the complete screen. The G86’s panel and glass are bonded together at the factory, so the glass cannot be replaced on its own.

Fitting the Moto G86 screen: advice from the iLevante team

The G86 has a plastic frame and strong sealing, as it is rated IP68/IP69 and MIL-STD-810H. Opening the phone is the tricky part; fitting the new screen is the easy part.

  1. Back up your data. Replacing the screen does not erase your data, but it is better not to take any risks.
  2. Apply gentle heat, no more than 60–80 °C. Too much heat can deform the plastic and cause spots to appear on the OLED.
  3. Lift the screen with the suction cup and work around the edge with the picks from the kit. Go slowly and do not use excessive leverage: the OLED panel is thin and can crack if bent.
  4. Disconnect the battery before unplugging the screen flex cable.
  5. Remove all the old adhesive. To restore the seal, you need a new adhesive gasket fitted securely in place. Without it, assume the phone will no longer be water-resistant.
  6. Test everything before closing the phone: touch response in all corners, brightness, proximity sensor and alignment of the front camera hole.

One detail that can cause headaches: the fingerprint reader is under the screen. Once you have finished, delete your fingerprints and register them again. Fit the included screen protector first, so the reader learns to recognise your fingerprint through it.

Would you rather not open the phone yourself? Take the part to a repair technician you trust. If you get stuck during installation, the iLevante team is here to help.
